Competent CrewA perfect introduction to Sailing that requires no previous sailing experience. On this course you will learn the fundamentals of sailing, how to steer the boat, what the sails do, basic terminology and how to tie knots. Learning about safety is integral to all our courses so you will be shown how to operate flares, lifejackets, safety harnesses, life rafts and how to assist in the recovery of a man overboard. Accommodation is aboard the yacht and you will participate in all aspects of boat life. You are the crew and without you the sails won't go up and the boat won't be steered. It’s totally exhilarating and potentially, a life changing experience! This course is for beginners and those who would like to become active crew members rather than just passengers.Experience living on board and really get to know the boat. Virtually all the course is hands on. By the end of the course you should be able to steer, handle sails, keep a lookout, row a dinghy and assist in all the day to day duties on board. You should also have visited some interesting places and had an enjoyable holiday.
